Introduction:
Army Medical College Rawalpindi is located on Abid Majid Road, Rawalpindi. The campus is located few miles away from the capital territory; its premises are accessible from all means i.e. railways, roads, and airports. The college was established back in 1977 by Pakistan Army for the fulfillment of medical needs of the country, for both military and civilians. The medical college offers both MBBS and BDS courses for the selected cadets. The medical college is affiliated with National University of Science and Technology Islamabad that too is a military-run University and Quaid e Azam University, that is, currently the number one university in Pakistan.
Army Medical College has an active and established structure as it is run directly by the military and its graduates are directly given a permanent commission in Pakistan Military and dental corps. The syllabus and curriculum of 5-year dental and the4-year medical undergraduate program are made and taught according to the guidelines of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. The medical facilities are provided on-campus as well as army camps across Pakistan by the college; such activities are conducted to train students to get familiar with the field work in any circumstances and to be ready for war or peace.

The college is located in the cantonment area of Rawalpindi. With a beautiful landscape, AMC has state-of-the-art technology and sophisticated machinery for clinical purposes. It has several academic and administrative blocks, few of them are meant for the accommodation of students. Army Medical College Rawalpindi Admissions:
The admissions for Army Medical College open in August every year; the entries are made once a year, all the seats are filled strictly on open merit. Undergraduate and postgraduate admissions start from August to November, the allied health sciences and nursing admissions start from July every year.

Eligibility Criteria for Admissions in AMC Rawalpindi:
The entrance tests are held in standard multiple choice formats in AMC or sister campuses in different cities of Pakistan. NTS conducts the test for all the medical colleges of Pakistan including Army Medical College Rawalpindi. The basic eligibility criteria for admission in all the medical colleges including AMC are as follows:
70% marks in FSc. Pre-medical from any educational board of Pakistan contrary to the minimum eligibility requirement of 60% marks obtained in HSSC set by PMDC.
At least 550 marks in SAT exam or equivalent international exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.
Adding to the academic criteria, AMC has following criteria in addition to the necessary physical criteria:
For males: minimum height of 5ft 4in, satisfactory eyesight, and color blindness test. Adjusted BMI according to height.
For females: 145 cm minimum height, pass color blindness test, proper BMI, and healthy eyesight.
The students at Army Medical College are considered commissioned cadets; passed graduates are provided permanent commission in the military corps with ranks similar to the army personnel.

Army Medical College Fee Structure:
Pakistan Army partially subsidizes the fee structure for all the army-run institutes. Still, the admission fee and miscellaneous charges may vary for three categories.
- For NUST Cadets: the fee is 13,000 per month
- For paying cadets: the fee is 3000 per month
- For foreign cadets: the fee is Rs. 10,000 per month
The hostel charges for both male and female cadets at Army Medical Collegeare fixed at Rs. 3000 per month.
Army Medical College Departments:
AMC has two main departments: Basic Sciences and Clinical Sciences departments for MBBS and BDS undergrads. Four subjects are taught in the first year MBBS syllabus: anatomy, histology, physiology, Biochemistry, and mandatory Pak Studies & Islamiat are taught in 1st year MBBS course.
Pharmacology, therapeutics, toxicology, and forensic medicine departments attend to 2nd year MBBS students. The third year MBBS courses comprise specific and general pathology in addition to community medicines with field training; it is a core subject for 3rd-year students in AMC Pindi. More advanced subjects, ENT, EYE, pediatrics, medicinal and surgical sciences are part of the curriculum in final year exams. Third and final year courses fall under clinical sciences department.
For BDS, the degree completion duration is four and a half year. First-year courses are similar to MBBS, anatomy, histology, physiology, and biochemistry subjects in addition to dental sciences and lab techniques. The second year curriculum encompasses eight subjects, general pathology and microbiology, general and dental pharmacology, therapeutics, oral anatomy, histology, and tooth morphology. Second-year courses are core subjects for Dental Sciences.
The third professional year includes medicine, surgical sciences, oral pathology and microbiology, and oral diagnosis &medicines. The final year courses are prosthetic, orthodontia, radiology, dentistry sciences, and oral surgery.
Distribution of seats in Army Medical College:
The open merit seats distribution for Army Medical College Rawalpindi is as follows:
100 seats are allotted through Pak Army medical test, 50 additional seats are provided on open merit for NUST students. For paying male/female undergraduate cadets, there are 20 individual seats allocated as an honorary gesture for army martyrs. A total of 35 seats is reserved for BDS, out of which 25 seats are allocated on open merit and 10 of the remaining for paying cadets and NUST cadets.
Faculty of AMC Rawalpindi:
AMC has brilliant faculty and managerial staff. As per the guidelines of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, there are 14 authorized professors and 14 associate professors at service. The college has a total number of 30 assistant professors for MBBS, BDS, allied health sciences, and nursing sciences. Army Medical Collegeis associated with CMH Lahore, Army Medical Corps.
