Foundation Medical College Islamabad Admissions and Fee Structure

Foundation Medical College Islamabad is a branch College of Foundation University Islamabad. The university works with the Fauji Foundation Organization, one of the biggest welfare organization of Pakistan run by Pakistan Army. FUI, in general, has a main campus located in Islamabad, its additional school is located in Rawalpindi that are three in number. The university offers medical and dental sciences, its other campuses offer master, bachelors and post-graduate degrees in law, fine arts, humanity, medical & dental, and doctoral sciences degrees in various subjects.

There are many other medical colleges in Islamabad like Islamabad Medical and Dental College, Shifa Medical College Islamabad, Federal Medical And Dental College Islamabad but the foundation medical college Islamabad is placed in category “A” by higher education commission in 2005, as of 2016-2017, the university is on the verge to make it to the top ten universities of Pakistan along with getting a w-4 status with an excellent rating and ranking points in such a short time.

Foundation University Medical College Islamabad was established in the year 2000, the college is fully equipped with sophisticated machinery, national and international faculty, labs, auditoriums, and theater rooms.It has international affiliations and recognition from medical universities of Europe and North America, and extensive research opportunities on doctorate level for postgraduate students in a conducive environment of FUMDC Islamabad.

In 2009, Federal University Medical College introduced its own curriculum prepared by the international and local professors and doctors to replace the curriculum taught in most of the medical colleges of Pakistan that are recognized by PMDC. The syllabus prepared is recognized by international bodies including General Professional Education of Physicians, Canadian Medical Council, World Federation of Medical Education and the General Medical Council in the UK.

Federal Medical College Islamabad Admissions:-

Foundation Medical College Islamabad accepts a limited number of seats every year for MBBS and BDS intake. It has a total strength of 600 MBBS students from all the batches, it currently enrolls 150 students annually as a threshold given by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. 50 seats are allocated every year for BDS studies and same number for DPT. Note that the NOC of the country of residence is compulsory for admission in PUMDC for foreign candidates.

As a federal institute, no quota is assigned for any students whatsoever, the admissions are based on open merit, no preference is given to any students. All the students from all the provinces or states of Pakistan can apply to the college for MBBS and BDS admissions. Some relaxations in fee structure are provided to the wards of serving and retired military personnel and soldiers. A special fauji Foundation scholarship program is also offered to the outstanding students as well as deserving students by the welfare organization. The University and Medical College students are also eligible for Prime Minister Laptop Scheme under the PM Youth development program.

How To Apply:

To apply for admission in Federal University Medical College Islamabad, read the advertisements in the newspapers that conveys all the information regarding admission forms, where to get them, and the last date of admissions and fee structure.

Admissions are opened on 31st October every year, you can get forms and prospectus from the student affairs office of Federal University Medical College, or download the application forms online from the official website of Federal University Medical College. Admissions and prospectuses are also available at branch offices of FUMDC in all the provinces.

Federal Medical College Islamabad Primary Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to enter the entrance test or at least to be considered for admission process, a student must fulfill the following criteria:

For Local Students:

At least 60% marks obtained in FScPre-medical from any recognized Institute and board of education of Pakistan or Azad Kashmir.

The entrance test is mandatory for all the applicants. Provincial entrance tests are valid for admissions for students of KPK, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan. For AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan students, any Provincial entry test is accurate and actually accepted.

Aptitude test conducted by Federal University Medical College that is mandatory for both local and international students.

For Foreign Students:

Equivalence certificate received from IBCC Islamabad from any foreign university, college, or high school approved by PMDC. In GPA system colleges, the equivalent 3.0 CGPA is accepted as the least criteria for admissions.

Only 23 seats are reserved for foreign candidates, the admission merit lists for International candidates are prepared separately, dual national students are eligible to apply for both foreign and local category.

Those Pakistani students who passed their FSc or equivalent exams from International Institute are awarded admission on standard given by IBCC.

In place of Entry test, Foreign candidate’s SAT-II International entrance test marks are considered for admissions, the SAT-II score must be greater or equal to 550.

 For non-English speaking international students, 500 or 5.5 scores in IELTS or TOEFL in the English language is compulsory.

The last date to submit documents for foreign students is 15th November.

Marks Weight age:

The total marks are weighed according to the instructions provided by HEC and PMDC to all the Public and Private medical colleges affiliated with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.

  • 10% marks in 12-year education
  • 40% marks in 14-year education
  • 50% marks in entry test

Hafiz e Quran students are given extra marks after an interview held by the panel.

For students submitting applications online are advised to send along Rs. 2100 bank draft with admission form, for foreign candidates, the application submission fee is $55 USD.

Federal University Medical College Fee Structure:

The revised fee structure for Federal University Medical College is according to the 5-year fee structure bill passed by PMDC and HEC.

For Local Students:

One-time admission fee for local students is Rs. 50,000, the registration fee is 50,000 Pakistani rupees. Tuition fee per year is Rs. 642,000 with 5% withholding tax i.e. Rs. 41,000 approximately. All the miscellaneous fee charges sum up to Rs. 913,100 for the first year. The fee may vary in subsequent academic years. In-campus Hostel charges are exempted from annual fee charges, it is Rs. 150,000 for local students and USD 1500 for international students.

For Foreign Students:

$13,100 are charged from Foreign students as tuition fee for the first year. All the expenses excluding hostel dues sum up to $17,000 for the first year.

Exemptions:

Army Shuhadas and war disabled wards are exempted from tuition fee, hostel fee, and transportation & health insurance costs. Also, 50% concession is given on security, exam fee, and registration fee.

Admission Criteria for DPT Students:

DPT courses are offered at PUMC Islamabad, a total of 50 seats are reserved for open merit, quota based, and wards of army personnel and shuhadas. Minimum of 55% in FSc examination are accepted as criteria for eligibility. Foreign students are also provided with 7 reserved seats. A 50-marks entry test is held in Federal University Medical Collegefor DPT.

Affiliated Hospitals:

Fauji Foundation Hospital, a 750-bedded purpose built a hospital to serve people of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and to act as a teaching hospital for Federal University Medical College students, is few minutes drive from FUMDC main campus. Fauji Foundation Hospital is the largest hospital of Fauji Foundation welfare program in Pakistan. It is entirely operational with advanced machinery, it has best doctoral and nursing staff to serve retired army personnel and their family.

Commencement of Classes:

After the merit lists are finalized and displayed in December, the classes start from January 4,2016 for MBBS and BDS for 2nd-year students and 11th January for First-year students. The campus has every facility for male and female students, a library equipped with books on modern sciences, online libraries by HEC, WiFiservice in campus and hostels, and college transportation.
