Shifa College of Medicine Islamabad works under the administration of Shifa International Hospital, now a private limited company. The hospital is one of the most advanced clinical and operational institutes of nuclear treatment, radiotherapy, and dental sciences. The stone was laid down in 1985, the hospital was constructed and became operational after two years. Around 500 members laid its foundations; the College of Medicine and Nursing College are the major branches of Shifa International Hospital.
The hospital covers a large area, around 11 acres in Sector H-8/4 in Islamabad. The hospital encompasses 550 beds at the moment, all kinds of labs, research centers, and dental and medical clinics. It has a community clinic to serve local patients and around 50 teaching beds allocated for students. Shifa College of Medicine and Shifa College of Nursing are located inside the main hospital area. The hospital has ten operation rooms, ICUs, and CCUs, and specialized rehabilitation and assessment centers.
Shifa College of Medicine and Nursing offer admissions in MBBS, BDS, BSc. In Allied Health Sciences, BSc. (Hons.) In Nursing, as well as postgraduate courses accredited from PMDC. Apart from educational activities, the students of Shifa College of Medicine are exposed to training skills for their professional life, a moral and holy training of curing those in distress without any benefit, but a moral responsibility is one good thing that is solely associated with Shifa College of Medicine Islamabad.
Admissions in Shifa College of Medicine Islamabad:
Admissions in Shifa College of Medicine for MBBS and BDS courses open once all the boards of intermediate education take their respective exams in FSc. Pre-medical group. Usually, the admissions open in August every year and close in October. Students willing to apply must submit their form after submitting a Challan of Rs. 6000 to the NTS either by hand or through specified banks. The banks that accept NTS Challan fee are:

Foreign students applying for admissions are advised to submit their application forms online after submitting a $200 fee in the care of the above-listed banks, Shifa College of Medicine do not accept applicationswithout any fee paid. All the admission and application submission fees are non-refundable, the admission criteria become tougher with the increasing number of applicants every year.
Shifa Medical College Entry Test:
Entrance tests are prepared and held under a private entry test taking organization NTS. The national testing service conducts a 2-hour entrance test for medical students, that includes mandatory subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Biology with the highest weight, English with lowest. Logical reasoning and aptitude tests in addition to science subjects are in MCQ format. Total marks are 90 for medical entry test. Admission tests are held in October every year on Sunday in any affiliated college or University of NTS. All the local students must follow the procedure given by NTS. For international students, the core eligibility criteria is:
- At least 650 marks obtained in theSAT-IIinternational examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or 650 in two subjects and 550 in any one of them.
- The obtained SAT-II score must be fresh or maximum two-year-old.
- Those international students having a Pakistani and foreign passport both at a time are eligible to apply for local and overseas
All the seats are filled according to merit, no quota is provided whatsoever to anyone, either for local or international students. The final selection and merit lists are prepared in the following procedure.
10% Matric marks.
40% FSc. Marks.
37.5% marks in written exam/Entry Test.
12.5% scores are added after interviewing the candidate.
For international students, the same criteria apply except for the SAT-II scores instead of entrance test.
All the merit lists are announced on the official website of NTS as well as the official website of Shifa College of Medicine Islamabad. The students are informed through an email and SMS service regarding their selection in Shifa Medical College. Waiting students are advised to stay in touch with the university until Display of final merit list.
Shifa Medical College Fee Structure:
The fee structure is fixed for all the private medical colleges of Pakistan according to the fee structure act of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. There are two different fee structures for local and international students. For local students, the annual tuition fee is Rs. 700,000, the different fee charges add up to Rs. 200,000 for the first year for local candidates. For international students, the total payable fee for the first year is in 18,000 USD inclusive of all taxes and mixed one-time charges.
Hostels and Educational Facilities:
Hostel facilities and accommodation for both male and female are provided inside the main campus. The fee charges for both male and female students are Rs. 350,000 payable for the first time. Hostel entries are made on first come first serve basis.
The classrooms are well ventilated, equipped with projectors, multimedia, and video presentation facilities, and Wi Fi services for students and faculty staff. Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Histology and Pathology departments have their separate labs and dissection halls for on-campus educational and experimental purposes. The independent research center has been setup for conducting professional research on an international level, several journals and research papers have been published by postgraduate students of Shifa Medical College.
Inter-department extracurricular activities and sports tournaments are held throughout the year, 4 acres of land is dedicated to sports facilities. Cricket, hockey, football, and indoor sports activities including badminton and table tennis tournaments are played by students from all the courses.
Departments and Faculty:
Medical sciences department is divided into basic sciences and clinical sciences departments, the basic sciences section have nine sub-departments. Department of Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, forensic medicines, pharmacology, pathology, and community medicine are functioning with the dedicated theater classrooms, auditorium, and labs. The clinical sciences department works under best faculty and professors. The sub-departments are medicine, diagnostic radiology, oncology, dermatology, Psychiatry, surgical sciences, and urology & orthopedics.
