Two main sub-departments are basic sciences department and clinical sciences department.
- The basic sciences department has three sub-departments Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry.
- Pre-clinical department imparts its operations in five subjects, it includes Pathology, Pharmacology, community medicine, forensic medicines, and Behavioral Sciences.
- The clinical sciences department comprise of sophisticated machinery, well-equipped labs, and advanced technology classrooms and theater halls. The subjects taught here are 12 in number.
In addition to the educational block, the college secretariat and library with thousands of books and online access to the digital library of HEC are built inside the academic block. First aid room and medical center remain open during college hours for any medical emergency. The WiFi facility is available to all the students and staff members with specific logins provided by the college.
Skills lab and computer lab are a delightful addition for students to save their time on research and academic discussions inside the campus. The college cafeteria is large enough to cater the needs of 500 students at once. Also, there are printing shops and a bookshop for students and staff to facilitate them.

Like big colleges e.g Islamabad Medical College, Shifa Medical College Islamabad , Admissions in Yusra Medical & Dental College open every year for limited seats i.e. 100 specified for YMDC. The dental sciences i.e. BDS admissions will be approved by PMDC for Yusra Medical & Dental College if the current pace of success continues. Advertisements are given in all the leading newspapers of Islamabad and adjacent areas as well as at the official website of Yusra Medical & Dental College Islamabad. The last date for admission in Yusra Medical & Dental College is 12th October. The admissions are awarded on an open merit basis, no quota is provided for any region. Students from all over Pakistan including Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are eligible to study at Yusra Medical & Dental College. However, reserved seats are allocated for international students, merit lists are prepared for reserved seats. If the international students do not fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria for medical examination, the seats are allotted to local students.

The minimum eligibility criteria for local students is:
At least 60% marks in FSc. Pre-medical from respective BISE.
For international applicants:
Minimum 3.0 CGPA in American or Canadian High School system
Least requirement of marks fulfilled according to IBCC in Physics, Biology, English and Chemistry subjects.
Entry Test Criteria:
For local students, the provincial entrance test is accepted for aggregate production and calculation.
For foreign applicants, SAT-II international test in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English is necessary with minimum 550 scores.
Applicants from non-English speaking nations and mediums of education are required to submit their IELTS or TOEFL results with at least 5.5 or 550 scores respectively in any of the tests.
Aggregate is calculated by the following method:
- 50% marks in medical entrance test
- 40% marks in FSc. pre-medical
- 10% marks in Matric examination
Affiliated Hospitals:
Cantonment General Hospital is a primary teaching hospital and one of the biggest hospital in the cantonment area of Rawalpindi. It is a 500-bed facility that can accommodate 150 students at a time.
Al-Sayed General Hospital is an intermediate 150-bedded hospital affiliated with Yusra Medical College. It is located beside Ayub National Park and provides a conducive learning environment to future doctors. Work is under process, and Yusra General Hospital is partially operational and will soon become a full-fledged 500-bed teaching hospital for students of Yusra Medical College by 2018.
